World Cup 2025 is set for November 12–16 in Florida, because of course it is. It used to be in New York way back in the ’90s (shoutout to 1998), but Florida has been the home for a while now. This year, we’ve got more international flavor than ever in the pro division — thanks to four teams punching their ticket from outside the U.S.: Breakout Spa (Belgium), Lucky 15s (UK), Joy Division (Sweden), and Papeletto (Brazil).
Here’s how they got in: top three finishers from the European X-Ball League get the invite (Breakout, Lucky 15s, Joy), and Papeletto earned their spot by winning the Latin American Championships in Brazil. Papeletto’s kind of a D3 squad that’s been grinding their way through lower NXL divisions, so yeah — going straight to pro is a big jump. But hey, even scoring a few points at Cup would be a win for them.
Now, let’s talk brackets. Five this year not the usual four with the top dogs (Red Legion, Paintball Fit, Impact, and Breakout Spa) seeded into that brutal AA bracket. Yeah, Breakout got dropped into the lions’ den. Sorry in advance. That said, this year’s real story is the title race: Red Legion vs. Paintball Fit, separated by just four points. With Cup offering double points, that gap means almost nothing. First place could flip the entire leaderboard, and even teams like Dynasty could sneak in if Fit or Legion slip.
Red Legion’s got the experience and two of the best players ever Berdnikov and Rabackoff not to mention Kirill and Karsliev, with Smotrov returning after his visa saga. That’s a stacked veteran roster. On the other side, Paintball Fit is younger, leaner, and has been grinding with the same tight core all season: Chavez, Stewart, Trent, Sebaugh, Cyrus, and back Colt Luckau is back from knee injury. Huge emotional boost there.
Style-wise, this matchup is fire. Fit leans into shooting off the break and tight teamwork. Red Legion plays fast, aggressive, and loose like raw individual skill kind of loose. Their match on Saturday is going to be nuts. Whoever wins that one? Probably taking the whole thing.
