The Tampa Bay Open just wrapped up this past weekend, and the big story coming out of it is Paintball Fit pulling off another huge win. I mean, they already won World Cup, which is arguably the hardest tournament to take home in all of paintball, and now they’ve followed that up with another first-place finish. It’s wild to see a rookie team come out swinging like this, winning back-to-back events like it’s nothing.
What makes it even more impressive is that they did it without one of their main guys, Colt Luca. You can actually see him on the sidelines during the finals in a black shirt. He hurt his knee during Thursday practice, and at the time, they weren’t sure how bad it was. Even without him out there, the squad held it down. Colt’s not just a key player, he’s kind of the emotional backbone of the team, so to see them pull through without him says a lot about their depth and chemistry.

The rest of the roster stepped up big time. Cyrus, Chavez, and Trent Mason all played lights out. Matty mentioned during the webcast that Trent was even dealing with a shoulder injury, but it didn’t seem to slow him down. It’s one of those moments that shows how much heart the team has, grinding through injuries and still coming out on top.
In the end, Paintball Fit took first, Dynasty came in second, and Impact landed in third. And I’ve gotta shout out how cool it was seeing the mutual respect between Fit and Dynasty after the match. You also had some big wins on the women’s side with the Femme Fatales taking first in the WNXL. They’re an old school team with a lot of history, so it’s cool to see them still doing damage. New Jersey High Rollers took second, and Heroines grabbed third.
Another standout moment came from the semi-pro division, where the TP Crew from Puerto Rico took home the win. The whole team’s from PR, and while they’ve been grinding in the NXL for a while, this is their first big win since moving up from D2. It’s always dope to see a team level up and then immediately prove they belong. Now the question is—can Paintball Fit make it three in a row?
