Black Zebra Studios
Black Zebra Studio also announced the name of the game will now be called Paintballers.
Virtua Paintball, is a new unreleased paintball game, still in beta. Looks good, but let’s talk about them getting sued. Black Zebra Studios maker of the game was founded by paintball pro Brett Messer. The creators of Virtua Paintball, got sued by Virtue Paintball, alleging trademark infringement. The lawsuit demands they cease using the brand name and seeks $10 million in damages. Naming your brand like that is asking for trouble.
The $10 million demand seems a bit steep, as the game hasnt event been launched yet. Virtua Paintball isn’t taking business from Virtue Paintball. Sure, they should stop using the name, but $10 million?
Reminds me of Smart Parts suing everyone in the mid 2000s. They lost public opinion., just as it seems Virtue is now. Even if legally justified, this lawsuit is for sure damages Virtue’s reputation.
